Community Seizure of Airsoft guns
But a question, if yous ordered a airsoft weapon from the U.S (a website) and it would be shipped here, would the customs seize information technology?
Even though it's clearly labeled every bit a toy and replica, and has a orange tip? I'chiliad just wondering because I desire to buy 1 from a website that does ship to Canada but is making the buyer liable for custom seizures.
Its only $fifty for the gun and it's a 1:1 M16 replica that is a gift for somebody I know that collects and decorates these guns.

If an airsoft gun were to show up like that, it would probably exist seized.
All replica firearms are prohibited in Canada, if it resembles an antique firearm information technology is admissible.
Basically it is evaluated on a case past instance basis.
Simply the standard is basically could it appear to be a real firearm to average joe, and more specifically, to Average Police force Constable.
In this case, fifty-fifty if the barrel has an orange tip on it, it would probably not be enough to make a example for it existence allowed in. The barrel could quickly exist spray painted black and then you lot have a very realistic looking replica.
The basic exemptions are if its made out of brightly coloured plastic and if it is significantly smaller in size than the weapon information technology is replicating.
(These are just guidelines, replicas fabricated out of all brightly colours plastic accept been seized / deemed inadmissible before.)
In this case it is neither.
So in brusque, yep if that comes through the mail, its going to get seized.
If yous bring information technology through by car, and don't declare information technology, (of course being we find it) then you are probably looking at an arrest for smuggling a prohibited weapon.

I looked into this quite heavily a while ago because I as well was interested in bringing them in, and information technology was around the start of when community would seize them. The explanation isn't quite logical, but I'll explicate what I've ended. That said, I successfully brought ii in, run across if you tin can become the shipper to declare information technology as a toy or something.
What the police force says, is anything that looks like a firearm but can't cause damage is banned for not-theatrical purposes. They determined the but use for such a device would be committing a criminal offense, or scaring people, or otherwise being hazardous to public wellfare. Thats why about 5-10 years ago you saw such radical shifts in the design of waterguns and now they look anything only like guns.
That said, pellet guns aren't banned because it fires a projectile which can crusade damage, and has a purpose other than that mentioned above. (pest command, target shooting etc.)
At present a few years back they did a bunch of testing, and for an airsoft BB, I think they determined 455 fps was the critical speed at which it tin cause damage to an eye(check the number I'grand not sure). So anything OVER 455 fps isn't considered a replica and is allowed on the aforementioned premise as pellet guns, and anything beneath is banned on the premise of beingness a replica. The situation is furthur complicated, because annihilation over 500 fps is considered a proper firearm, and needs to be registered. Considering most of these airsoft handguns have barrels of 4" or less, or are fully automated, they'd fall in the catagory of prohibited firearms. Then y'all take a window of 45 fps betwixt which its banned on ane side by the virtue that its harmless, and on the other by virtue its so harmful only police and armed services would even need them.
Now, it gets further involved considering of the illogical nature of the rules, and well-nigh customs officials don't know the details backside it. When they see 455fps as the critical speed, one would logically think that the slower shooting ones would be the ones would want to let in, and the faster ones the ones you'd want to continue out. Several people Ive heard on spider web forums got away with that at state border crossings. "Well that must be a typo, information technology doesn't make sense. If its MORE unsafe its immune?" and the guys bought information technology.

You've probably been on this website before.. but heres the link if you've missed information technology.
http://www.chlorofluorocarbon-cafc.gc.ca/factsheets/airguns_e.asp
To sum upwards, basically its a "on your own discretion thing". If they do find it to fall under the criminal code's definition of a firearmthey tin can detain information technology at customs (assuming they checked information technology thoroughly).
And based on Department three. on that webpage, I observe it highly likely that your buy will fall nether the restrictions imposed on "airsoft" or items resembling firearms.
If I were you, buy information technology and simply cross your fingers it passes through customs.. or just search for something similar in Canada though it'll probably be more expensive.

I almost bought myself a Glock 17 from the web site yous provided. Only, according to their FAQs page:
Canadian orders for airsoft guns MUST be clear and/or airsoft accessories/camo gear only, NO EXCEPTIONS. If you place an order for a non-articulate airsoft gun, your order will be cancelled and refunded.
So, yeah...also bad
